Black Widow Colors

Hey Everybody.

Saw this Black Widow piece on Sam Liu's blog and I knew I just had to color it. I used to practice coloring on Sam's stuff back in the day, so it was definitely a fun piece to do because it let me see how far I've come since being a 16 year old.... 10 years later. ssshhhhiiiiitttt, I'm getting old. ;_;

Just wanted to post this great interview with famous illustrator Drew Struzan. He says a lot of things that, not only resonate with illustrators, but with just artists in general. It's one of the ones I listen to when I want to get grounded and inspired.

I'd been meaning to do this for a while, and that is, look at the old website I had from when I was about 15-18 just to get an idea where I've been, how far I've come, and to just kind of humble myself.

What I ended up finding though, was that the ridiculous design elements I use sometimes in my artwork now, has been something I'd been doing since I was 14 to 17 and I never even realized it. I thought me being decorative with my artwork was something new, or something I learned in my last couple of years in college... But it wasn't!! Case in point.

daily sketch - 27

Hey guys, so I've been doing this thing where I do a sketch a day now. This is tonights (jan 26, but i always seem to have a habbit of drawing them at 12am the next morning... does that mean i'm always one behind? who knows).

So far, so good. Even if I miss a day, it's already happen, I make sure to make it up by doing an extra the next day. Hopefully it never gets up to the point where I need to make up 200 in a day. ;)
